Welcome

Welcome to the IPSHA Western Australia Branch Web Page

Mrs Christina Gamble

Education in the 21st Century has to be based upon a model that not only caters for the needs of a rapidly changing world and workplace, but must also ensure that students in our schools are equipped to make good choices for themselves, their communities, and the world, by capitalizing on values and skills that remain unchanged.

Parents of students within Independent schools have high expectations for their children and expect high standards in the teaching and pastoral care of their children. Our member schools take these hopes and aspirations very seriously and have put into place a number of initiatives to ensure our responsibility is to broadening the network of ideas that will propel good schools toward becoming great schools. As IPSHA members, we share in the joys of preparing students to contribute effectively toward a peaceful, prosperous, just, and equitable world. Furthermore, we aim to foster a keen sense of community across all schools, whilst showcasing the talents and abilities of a wide cross-section of students.

The Western Australian Branch of IPSHA consists of over forty members from Independent schools throughout Western Australia, including co-educational, single sex, denominational, non-denominational, metropolitan and rural schools.

IPSHA (WA branch) members enjoy a range of activities and benefits throughout the course of the year, including:

• Regular meetings for Members each term, with a focus on collegiality and relevant professional development
• Social gatherings, an annual dinner and a regional retreat for Members
• An annual Ecumenical service for staff and students
• A biennial Performing Arts Festival
• A biennial Art exhibition
• Chess competitions
• Co-educational and single sex Sport competitions and fixtures
• Regular network meetings for teachers within Member schools for Teacher Librarians, Art Teachers, Deputies, K-3 Teachers, 4-7 Teachers, ICT Coordinators, LOTE teachers and Special Needs Teachers.

The Western Australian Branch membership is flourishing, and many members lead a range of different network groups and committees. These members share their participation and knowledge in our regular meetings each term, allowing us a voice and presence in both schools and the wider community. Members of the IPSHA enjoy regular collegiality and numerous opportunities to share new ideas and innovations. Western Australian Independent Schools have a strong tradition of excellence to uphold and without the efforts of the Junior Heads and a solid commitment to good practice, the Western Australian Branch would not be as strong as it is today.

We encourage all Primary Heads within the state to become involved in IPSHA and we invite you to make contact with us, should you have any queries.
